Outstanding 19th Century flame mahogany, bowfront Stick Barometer; the swan-neck pediment over finely engraved silvered brass register plates, signed by the maker, and bearing rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The elegant and well figured trunk ebony banded; the concealed cistern tube terminating within ebonised boxwood urn shaped cistern cover. Elliott Brothers was founded in 1849 on the retirement of their father. The business expanded rapidly after the acquisition of Watkins and Hill in 1850, subsequently becoming Elliott Automation and then being absorbed into the GEC empire.
