Classic late 18th Century Georgian mahogany Stick Barometer; the break-arch pediment, centred by brass urn finial, over engraved silvered brass register plate with manually adjustable vernier. The trunk, with book-matched veneers flanking exposed original barometer tube, which terminates within hemispherical cistern cover. c1790 Partnership between John Gilbert, a third-generation instrument-maker, based at 148 Leadenhall Street, and Gabriel Wright, which ran from 1782-93.
