Fine carved Rosewood Marine Stick Barometer. c 1850

Good quality mid-19th Century carved 'Rio' rosewood Marine Stick Barometer; the elaborately turned and fluted pediment over engraved ivory register plates with rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The trunk, attractively spirally fluted and inset with Fahrenheit and Réaumur mercury thermometer. The constricted barometer cistern tube terminates within 3-part cylindrical brass cistern cover.

The barometer incorporates ivory and has been registered under the Ivory Act 2018
