PHNB - Paris. 19th Century brass cased aneroid barometer with twin thermometers. [8-inches diameter]


Fine quality and unusually large 8-inch [210 mm] diameter 19th Century brass-cased aneroid barometer. The well-engraved silvered brass dial with exposed barometer movement bearing twin curved thermometers - mercury Fahrenheit and alcohol Centigrade and Réaumur scales, protected by bevelled plate glass. The case profile exaggeratedly dished. PHNB stamp on verso. The firm of Pertuis Hulot et Naudet Barometres, was pre-eminent in the worldwide manufacture of the aneroid barometer during the 3rd and 4th quarters of the 19th Century.
