Unusual, and exceptional quality, early 19th Century mahogany Stick Barometer in essentially original condition. The front-to-back ‘swan-neck’ pediment over inset engraved silvered brass hygrometer and main barometer plate, signed by the maker, with manually operated vernier slide and protected by lockable glazed door trimmed in brass. The figured mahogany case, ebony banded, inset with mercury Fahrenheit thermometer, also with lockable brass trimmed door, concealing original barometer tube terminating within turned cistern cover. Perhaps the most renowned of all Scientific Instrument makers, Adams, whose 3 successive family members held the King's Royal Warrant continuously for nearly a hundred years from 1735 -1823, and whose output is consistently of the very highest quality.
