Excellent mahogany-cased, mid-19th Century Stick Barometer; the staged ogee pediment over finely engraved ivory register plates, signed by the maker and bearing rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The trunk of well patinated 'flame' mahogany, concealing wide-bore barometer cistern tube which terminates behind turned cistern cover.


Ross earned a high reputation as an Optician-cum-Optical Instrument Maker, with various premises in Holborn, London, from 1830-59
