Reference

Outstanding mahogany cased bow-front Stick Barometer in essentially original condition; the 'ogee' pediment over very finely engraved register plate with rack-and-pinion operated vernier, protected by impressive and unusual brass- trimmed bowed glass; the figured mahogany trunk, banded in ebony, inset with adjustable Fahrenheit and Réaumur mercury thermometer, with unusual integral cursor, also with cast brass-trim, and with original cistern tube barometer terminating in ebonised cistern cover.

Perhaps the most renowned Barometer makers of the mid-18th to early 20th Century, whose high manufacturing standards earned them Royal warrants as Optician and Instrument maker to Kings George III and IV and Queen Victoria.
