Very fine quality and unusual 18th Century mahogany Stick Barometer with bold, front-to-back 'swan-neck pediment over well engraved signed silvered brass register plate with unusual rack-and-pinion operated vernier. The trunk of rich flame mahogany, edge moulded, strung in ebony and with concealed barometer tube terminating in most singular cylindrical cistern cover [typical of the Jesse Ramsden workshops -so attributable to them].

A noted instrument maker, Fraser retailed at premises in 3 New Bond St. from c1783-1812. The business thereafter continued to flourish under different ownerships, including the Dixey dynasty.
