 Elegant 18th Century mahogany Stick Barometer in essentially original condition. The impressively large break-arch pediment, supported on side brackets, over well-engraved, silvered brass register plates, signed by the maker, with vernier slide and mercury Fahrenheit thermometer. The trunk, edge-moulded and veneered in figured Cuban mahogany, with exposed barometer tube, which terminates within turned cistern cover of a style typical of the period.  c1780

A highly accomplished mathematical instrument maker, who worked from premises at 3 Bond St., London from 1777 to 1815, latterly in partnership with his son, holding Royal Warrants from King George III and the Prince of Wales.
