Exquisite and rare early 19th Century dwarf, brass-inlaid rosewood Wheel Barometer in excellent original condition. The ‘swan-neck’ pediment over case, veneered in figured 'Rio' Rosewood, inlaid with brass floral motifs and lines, and inset with well engraved silvered brass hygrometer, long detachable bow-fronted Fahrenheit thermometer, signed 4 inch diameter main barometer dial, and spirit level, also decorated with floral designs, and typical of the makers' output. c1820  

Francis Amadio senior was highly talented engraver/barometer-maker who operated from premises in St. John’s St. Road, east London from c1800 for around 40 years up to his retirement in 1840, when his son, for many years in partnership with him, continued the business until c1860.
